Watch: Southern Food With a Tiki Bar Twist

‘Dining on a Dime’ drinks up at the Commodore

In this episode of Dining on a Dime, host Lucas Peterson heads out to Williamsburg near the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in search of good bar food, elaborate tiki drinks, and a laid-back vibe. He finds all of these things at the Commodore, which, when you fight through the scenester aspect of the place (and that is definitely a part of it), actually serves up some supremely good nachos, fried chicken, and biscuits, among other things.

You may know the Commodore crew as the same people behind Pies ‘n’ Thighs, another Brooklyn institution that features greasy poultry goodness. The fried chicken sandwich is superior, as are the biscuits with honey butter. With the outdoor hang-out space and strong, rum-based drinks, Peterson makes himself at home in this fun, lively Williamsburg favorite.
