“Comfort food means different things to different people,” as chef Daniel Holzman learns from the pages of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Cookbook. Holzman, a real chef and the co-owner of New York City’s the Meatball Shop, is cooking pizza ramen soup in this week’s episode of Real Chefs Cook Dumb Recipes.

While the exact origin of the recipe is unknown, pizza ramen soup came to be as it’s the perfect marriage of comfort foods for the four Turtles (pizza), and their father/master, Splinter (ramen). Naturally, pepperoni is the preferred pizza of the crime-fighting ninjas, and ramen became an obvious comfort food for Splinter after he was forced to spend time in New York City's sewers. The recipe calls for mozzarella, canned pizza sauce, and a packet of Top Ramen and will henceforth dub Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael as culinary heroes.
