Last week we focused on the hottest restaurants in Tokyo, Japan. Now, courtesy of A Life Worth Eating's Adam Goldberg, it's time to have a look at some of the more exciting kissatens (coffee shops) in that Japanese metropolis.

The coffee scene in Tokyo is blowing up, and just like in New York, third wave shops are opening at an explosive rate. The difference is that the shops in Tokyo are trying really hard to specialize and differentiate themselves from each other; each store has its own take. L'Ambre, for example, serves up twenty-year-old aged beans while other spots roast theirs to order for each cup. Bear Pond serves chocolatey espresso, thick as maple syrup, while Nozy highlights beans' more acidic notes. My Tokyo coffee crawls have undoubtedly been my most interesting.
