This week we head to Philadelphia, a city not yet under the Eater purview, and select twelve newish locales that have been garnering serious buzz. This time around, we've been fortunate enough to consult Philadelphia Inquirer restaurant critic Craig LaBan, who has shared with us some of his favorites.
This undertaking has revealed several trends: for one, Philly's relatively lackluster pizza scene has gotten a boost from places like Barbuzzo, Zavino and Stephen Starr's Stella. It's no mystery, also, that Jose Garces continues to tear it up with his restaurants JG Domestic and Garces Trading Co. and that most of the places on the map bill themselves as casual spots. Here now, the Eater Heat Map to Philadelphia, a chronicle of the city's restaurants of the moment.
Our thanks to Mr. LaBan and Jamie from Midtown Lunch Philadelphia.
