Today, Eater returns to London, England, to focus on 15 restaurants and bars that have been garnering some serious buzz since opening within the past year. As was the case the last time around, ElizabethOnFood.com blogger and restaurant reviewer Elizabeth Auerbach — who also writes the Eater heatmaps for Berlin and Amsterdam — shares her picks for the hottest restaurants and bars in the city right this moment.
London's dining scene is simply on fire right now. Former Viajante chef Nuno Mendes presides over the menu at a white-hot celebrity hangout (Chiltern Firehouse), while the inimitable Heston Blumenthal has opened a restaurant for travelers passing through Heathrow Airport's new Terminal 2 (The Perfectionists' Cafe). Other Michelin-starred chefs are lending their talent to London now, too, including Alain Ducasse (Rivea) and Simon Rogan (Fera at Claridge's).
But it's not all high-end or big names. Former Young Turks chef James Lowe has debuted an all-day restaurant in Shoreditch (Lyle's), and former New York City chef Brad McDonald is making Southern food happen (The Lockhart). What was once a pop-up izakaya from a Nobu alum has found not one but two permanent locations (Kurobuta), the city has its first fast-casual Persian restaurant (Dindin Kitchen), and there's so much more. Here now, the Eater Heatmap to London.
