The Only Manhattan Recipe You'll Ever Need

One of five classic cocktails named at the city that never sleeps, the Manhattan—a blend of whiskey, sweet vermouth and bitters— is a surprising chameleon of a drink, and one whose personality morphs based on the blend of its three ingredients. Play around with your favorite whiskeys and sweet vermouths to build your perfect Manhattan.

How To Make a Manhattan

One serving.

Ingredients:
2 oz. rye whiskey
2 oz. sweet vermouth
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
3 maraschino cherries (optional)

Combine all ingredients in mixing glass. Add ice and stir to blend. Strain into coupe glass. Garnish with maraschino cherry-skewered toothpick.
