'The Breakfast Club' Inspired Pistola LA's Next Cocktail Menu

Pistola restaurant in Los Angeles will debut cocktails based on characters in the cult film, The Breakfast Club.

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of John Hughes' iconic film The Breakfast Club and its re-release on the big screen March 26, bartender Aaron Melendrez of Los Angeles Italian restaurant Pistola created the ultimate fan tribute: a liquid interpretation of each character in the film. And for the record, Melendez is also the guy who decided bone broth should be boozy.

Note, impressive cocktail applications to channel scenes from the film like Cap'n Crunch clarified cereal milk for the Basketcase drink (an important ingredient in Allison's sandwich), the "E=MC2" stencil for the Brain libation and actual smoke for the Criminal creation. "Hey, smoke up, Johnny!"

Liquid iterations of everyone's favorite juvenile delinquents — the brain, the athlete, the basketcase, the princess, the criminal — hit Pistola's menu March 21. Each day expect a different character cocktail. On March 26, the restaurant will screen the film and offer all drinks, including a special off-the-menu one for Dick, the principal.
