The Continental

Prolific East Coast restaurateur Stephen Starr is behind Miami's white hotretro cool The Continental, a vintage-designed, 225-seat indoor/outdoor eatery whose moniker pays homage to Starr's first Philly restaurant, Continental Restaurant + Martini Bar. Think Asian-American cuisine paired with neo-tiki libations in festival vessels. Below, a tropical-tinged, autumn-appropriate take on the Old Fashioned.

Dominicana Old Fashioned
Makes 1

2 ounces rum, such as Ron Atlantico Private Cask
3/4 ounce coconut water
1/2 ounce cinnamon syrup*
coconut shard (garnish)
cinnamon stick (garnish)

Add rum, coconut water and cinnamon syrup to mixing glass with ice. Stir and strain into Old Fashioned glass over ice.

*To make cinnamon syrup, boil 3/4 cup granulated sugar with 1/2 cup water and 3 grams of crushed cinnamon sticks until sugar has dissolved. Strain cinnamon sticks and discard. Reserve syrup.
