Milk Bar founder Christina Tosi is hard at work on her third cookbook, and it’s all about cake. The Crack Pie and Cereal Milk inventor, who unveiled Milk Bar’s newest outpost at The Cosmopolitan on the Vegas Strip in December, spoke about the upcoming book in a recent interview with Vegas Seven:
I’m hopefully [going] to tie up [my] third cookbook, which right now will be called Milk Bar Cakewalk. It’s going to be all about cake—bundt cakes, pound cakes, cupcakes, layer cakes, wedding cakes, tiered cakes, sheet cakes. The first Milk Bar cookbook was all about the cult recipes for Milk Bar, but we couldn’t cover everything in the span of 200 pages.
Milk Bar Cakewalk publisher Clarkston Potter confirms the book is slated to drop in Fall 2018. Ravenous home bakers will be able to get their hands on 100 recipes for Milk Bar-style layer cakes, cake truffles, and more.
The book’s name comes from the cake walks the shop frequently hosts — a musical chairs-type game in which someone wins one of Milk Bar’s signature, colorful layer cakes.
Tosi released her first hit cookbook, Momofuku Milk Bar, in 2011 and followed it up with Milk Bar Life in 2015. When she’s not launching new outposts of her dessert bar or whipping up boozy milkshakes on late-night TV, the Cereal Milk inventor can be seen judging MasterChef and MasterChef Junior alongside Gordon Ramsay and Graham Elliott.
