A warm, delicious dinner can turn an average Atlanta evening into a family event, and it always makes the house feel more like home. Even on the busiest of nights, all you have to do is order from your favorite Atlanta restaurant, and you’re a step away from a meal that’ll lift your kinfolk’s spirits — no expert home chef required.

Many of the city’s most popular eateries are favorites among ATL foodies because they know how to dish out good food at a great value. (Translation: they’ll not only make your family dinner a more memorable occasion, but also help do it at an affordable price.) Next time you’re in charge of feeding friends or family, treat them to a feast from one of these 10 spots. All of them carry plenty of options to please even the pickiest eaters, and without breaking the bank.

A number of restaurants around the metro Atlanta area have reopened and are following the state requirements and CDC guidelines to help make sure you have a great dining experience. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concerns: for updated information on coronavirus cases in your area, please visit atlantaga.gov. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.

Yakitori Jinbei

Looking for a less expensive — but still delicious — way to take the family on a destination dining escape to Korea and Japan? Skip the trip to Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and opt for a Jinbei meal plan. For $17.50 per person, a family of four gets an entree each and two small plates to share. Options for main dishes include tonkatsu ramen, bulgogi beef or other rice bowls, and sushi rolls like the Dynamite Roll (salmon katsu, cream cheese, alfalfa sprouts, and jalapeno). And with starters like Korean fried chicken wings and pork dumplings, it’s a culinary getaway you can take close to home.

Oriental Pearl Seafood Restaurant

Chinese takeout always makes for a crowd-pleasing family dinner. In this case, Oriental Pearl is a superb pick, with its classic staples, including steamed pork buns or shrimp dumplings as appetizers, seafood specials like pan-fried seabass, and unique takes on standards. For something a little different, try the spicy garlic shrimp with eggplant or the Peking-style pork chop.

Buttermilk Kitchen

Buttermilk Kitchen knows that when a family comes together to start the day over a delicious breakfast, it feels like love melting over a big fluffy biscuit. And that’s exactly what the restaurant offers five mornings a week, whether you’re dining in or taking your biscuit basket ($10), stack of buttermilk pancakes ($11), and pimento cheese grits ($6) to go.

You can make your own pizza at this Neapolitan spot, as well as ordering from a selection of hearty calzones for extra-hungry nights. Don’t forget to grab an order of mozzarella sticks, a classic cannoli or tiramisu to satisfy family members with a sweet tooth, and some Coca-Cola to cap off your meal.

Cooks & Soldiers

A top-tier restaurant in Atlanta’s West Midtown district, this Castellucci Hospitality Group spot is considered a crown jewel of the family business, and its four-person family meals are proof that it deserves the reputation. Your options range from roasted adobe Berkshire pork loin to whole grilled market fish, or smoked Basque-style chicken thighs in saffron piperade. Each comes with a salad and bikinis (Basque dining’s irresistible take on a grilled ham and cheese).

Bocado’s beloved burger stacks would be enough of a draw on their own, but since the restaurant added wood-fired pizzas to the menu, it’s become an even better bet for satisfying picky kids and discerning adults alike. Polish off a triple-patty burger and fries or a prosciutto pizza for less than $20 each, or share a family meal of roasted chicken or tagliatelle (plus salad and bread) for around $15 per person.

Arepa Mia

Venezuela’s famous arepas — grilled cornmeal patties stuffed with meats, cheeses, and veggies — are a perfect plan for your next get-together. Each arepa comes in around $10, and ordering à la carte means everyone can pick their favorite fillings. The menu’s entirely gluten-free, and ingredients are sourced from local farms, making the asada negro (12-hour-roasted grass-fed beef), or grilled wild salmon arepas even tastier. Grab a couple of Cokes, and your meal is set.

Old Lady Gang Southern Cuisine

Family business is literally on the menu at this chain of restaurants founded by a certain beloved reality star. The recipes featured on OLG’s menu come from the owner’s mother and two aunts, and the love is evident in starters like “Mama Sharon’s” seared crab cakes; “Aunt Bertha’s” fried chicken, which comes with collard greens stewed in turkey; and “Kandi’s” honey-glazed blackened salmon, served with a side of her mother’s green beans.

Paschal's

One of Atlanta’s most celebrated restaurants, Paschal’s history dates back to the Civil Rights Movement. The owners were proud supporters of the social justice efforts of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, and others in the Atlanta Student Movement. Today, they’re still heralded for their timeless recipes, and offer family meals including 8-piece chicken dinners — fried or oven-baked — accompanied by four biscuits, two 32-ounce sides (black-eyed peas, rice and gravy, collards, and so on), and a gallon of tea or lemonade. They offer the same setup of sides and biscuits with tilapia, smothered beef steak, and BBQ pulled pork. And the price is noteworthy: Any of the above are well under $30 before tax.
