The unbearable summer heat is finally giving way to the cool breezes of fall, and that can only mean one thing: Football season is upon us. Thursday nights, entire weekends, and Monday evenings are spent indoors, but cozying up at home alone with a bag of tortilla chips gets stale really quickly. Bond with other fans at these New York City bars that make televised games totally worth leaving your house for. Bring on the booze, wings, and all the team chants you can bear at these football fan-friendly watering holes.
Houston Hall
Tucked into a busy stretch of Houston Street, this hall — never was there a more accurate bar name — is a temple to craft beer, cocktails, and sports. It’s a welcome escape from the chaos of lower Manhattan and once inside its cavernous confines, you’ll be treated to a massive projector screen that allows for views of big games from nearly every angle. Patrons aren’t afraid to get rowdy while cheering (or booing) the winning team, so wear your colors with pride and belt out a few bars of your squad’s fight song. An oversized and shareable oven-baked mac and cheese as well as the gooey goodness of Milk Truck grilled cheeses keep fans sated as NFL and college games play throughout the day.

Stout
This NYC mini-chain serves as the unofficial home for Denver Broncos fans. If you’ve ever been to Colorado then you know they love their beer almost as much as Jameson Caskmates, and Stout serves up plenty of the Centennial State’s best brews all game. Stout’s locations throughout the city are always perfect for big groups, and with screens running wall-to-wall behind the bar, you’ll never be without a good viewing angle for big plays.

Gael Pub
An unofficial hub for Chicago Bears fans on the Upper East Side, you’ll find Windy City paraphernalia lining the walls of this decade-old Irish pub. TVs basically make up the wall behind the bar, so you won’t be fighting over which game is getting screen time, and you can even bring your beer outside to the pub’s sidewalk patio to get a breath of fresh air at halftime. There’s a pool table and dartboard that’ll keep you occupied between kickoffs all fall. This being an Irish bar, whiskey is the ticket — and you’ll find plenty of Jameson Caskmates stocked at Gael Pub.

Daltons
If you’re looking for a place to catch your alma mater dominate their big matchups this fall, there’s no better place than Daltons in Hell’s Kitchen. The 27 TVs — yes, 27 — mean that almost every game under the sun will be in easy view. Want to celebrate that game-winning TD the right way? A pour of Jameson is always $6, which makes it particularly easy (and affordable) to honor your squad’s victory on the gridiron. Want to get the college buddies together for a little impromptu reunion during a big game? Daltons offers specials for just such an occasion.

Professor Thom’s
New England transplants know Professor Thom’s as the East Village locale where they can break out their uncensored Boston accents, unashamedly congregate in Patriots jerseys, and toast to Tom Brady. Seventeen televisions as well as a projector line the area above the bar and are scattered throughout the room, with individual TVs at the end of large booths, should you want a slightly more intimate-feeling viewing party. On Mondays, $20 gets you a whole lobster, corn, and fries, driving home the feeling of New England.

Due West
There’s bar food, and then there’s the menu at Due West. This West Village gastropub is where you head when you want to catch your team kick off but also want some Siberian caviar or whipped ricotta with saffron honey and Aleppo pepper. (They also have a kickass raw bar.) This is where date night and football come together in perfect harmony, ideal for couples where one person wants to catch every replay and another may be more focused on capturing the perfect foodstagram of gooey hot crab dip.

Phebe’s Tavern
This legendary East Village bar and grill is a popular haunt of NYU students on most nights, but when the Cincinnati Bengals hit the field this fall, Phebe’s is a hub for Ohioans. Homesick Cincy fans come here on game days for the imported Skyline Chili, a heavily spiced chili concoction that is spooned over spaghetti and dogs. It’s truly a Cincinatti special, something only a local can love and only served during Bengals games. Whenever Cincy scores, the whole bar breaks out into the team’s fight song and toasts their Jameson high in the air.

The Grayson
Expect to see a sea of red on Saturdays this fall as this old-school sports bar in the East Village is the official Wisconsin Badgers watering hole. It also happens to be one of the best places in the city to catch any game you can imagine, since there are 45 HD TVs dotting every piece of empty wall space. It’s also got a decadent bar menu that includes a mac-and-cheese topped burger as well as one stacked with pulled pork slathered in a Jameson Original BBQ sauce.
