Read Josh Lewin's essay series on opening Juliet.

Juliet

The first permanent location for the Bread & Salt Hospitality team, Juliet is in the works in the former Sherman Cafe space. It will be a European-style cafe — more restaurant than coffee shop — with a focus on set breakfasts. The kitchen will be open, and there will also be a variety of grab-and-go, commuter-friendly snacks available, since there's a bus stop right outside. For those dining in, the small space will be split between full-service dining and casual counter-service options. "In the future, we may build some more specific restaurants or some more full-service restaurants, but this is small on purpose, it’s neighborhood on purpose, and it’s a place for us to introduce ourselves to Union Square and the greater area — as a real anchor to what we do in the future," co-owner Josh Lewin previously told Eater.

Opa Greek Yeeros

The original Kickass Cupcakes space in Davis Square will become a Greek restaurant, courtesy of the landlord of that whole strip of storefronts, Christos Poutahidis, and his business partner Kyriakos Kouzoukas. (The duo also has a doughnut shop in the works elsewhere in Davis.) "What we're doing, we're making traditional Greek gyros as you will find in Greece. It will be just as good," Kouzoukas previously told Eater. Opa will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
