Burger King Apologizes to Cop Whose Burger Had a Pig Drawn on the Wrapper

The New Mexico Burger King is now offering free meals to local police to say sorry

Cops do not have the best branding nowadays, what with the shooting and killing people and insisting that having a job that provides you with a gun means you’re a protected class. So it’s perhaps unsurprising that a group of fast food employees would try and make a joke at an officer’s expense. Last Thursday, police officer Timo Rosenthal ordered a burger at a Clovis, New Mexico Burger King, only to find a pig drawn on the wrapper, with a little star badge to boot. He also complained on Facebook “The patties were burnt and the burger was of very poor quality,” and attributed it all to him having ordered while in uniform.

Rosenthal then spoke on Fox & Friends, saying “Everybody has the freedom of speech, you know, if people want to express the hate or resentment they have for law enforcement, they can certainly do that, but if they follow it up with actions which then I don’t get to enjoy my lunch or other actions, I mean you all have in New York the people that throw water on the cops, that’s not OK.” Five Burger King employees have been fired over the drawing, and a Burger King spokesperson said the action was “unacceptable and not in line with our brand values.”
