Junk food will break your junk, it seems
Following a study suggesting that heavy consumption of junk food could increase the likelihood of infertility in women, a new study suggests that men who consume vast amounts of unhealthy food are also at risk of similar issues. The study comes from Harvard University, and focused on nearly 3,000 Danish men. They were separated into various groups based on their dietary habits, and those who were put in the “Western” category (with diets high in red meat, processed food, snacks, and sugar) had the lowest sperm counts, and lower “quality” of sperm. (The best diet for those l’il guys was one centered around fish, chicken, fruits, and vegetables.)
Oh, and if you were one of those teens who scarfed down burgers and picked up better eating habits later on, bad news: The damage may already be done by age 18. For anybody else with male reproductive organs, take note — if you prefer your eggs to be served “fertilized,” the bacon and egg McMuffin might no longer be for you.
