Wither the Vanity Fair Oscar Party?

For decades, the Vanity Fair Oscar party was considered the hottest ticket in Hollywood, but now its popularity is on the wane. “When invitations went out this year, one of my big clients asked me, ‘Is Vanity Fair still a hot invite?,’ which tells you everything you need to know,” an unnamed Hollywood publicist tells the New York Times. While the party was once considered an exclusive event where celebrities and aristocrats could mix and mingle for hours in a camera-free environment, the event has increasingly become a more crowded, heavily-branded affair rife with smartphone-toting guests. This year’s VF soiree also faces stiff competition from Jay-Z and Beyonce’s Chateau Marmont parking garage bash. Further complicating matters, the chefs from the Nomad LA are cooking at the magazine’s Oscar party, but their boss Daniel Humm will be at Jay and Bey’s bash. Madonna, Elton John, and Netflix are also hosting buzz-worthy Oscar parties this year. Update: A rep sends word that Mr. Humm will, in fact, be splitting his time between both the Vanity Fair and Jay/Bey parties. And, also, the New York Times has been disinvited from the Vanity Fair bash.

Leone appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday making bison tartare:
