Chip and Joanna Gaines

Chip and Joanna Gaines’s Waco takeover continues

The town of Waco might as well just be renamed Fixer Upper, Texas: Former HGTV superstars Chip and Joanna Gaines are now opening a coffee shop. The as-yet-unnamed cafe is slated to open by the end of the year and will join the couple’s burgeoning Waco kingdom which also includes restaurant Magnolia Table (which also has an accompanying cookbook that’s a best-seller, despite some pretty bad recipes) and bakery Silos Baking Co. (The Gaineses’ booming lifestyle empire also includes a line of home goods at Target and a new home decor line for Anthropologie.)

And in other news...

• A fictional beverage from Breaking Bad may soon become a reality: Sony has filed for multiple trademarks for Schraderbräu, the home brew created by DEA agent Hank Schrader. In addition to the beer itself, it looks like there will also be glasses, bottle openers, and shirts. [The Blast]

• An enterprising Girl Scout in Colorado used Hollywood heartthrob Jason Momoa’s likeness to hawk Samoas, slapping his likeness on the front of cookie boxes. [NY Post]

• One diner is dead following a food poisoning outbreak at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Valencia, Spain. [El Pais]

• How to stop hating your least favorite food, according to science. [The Atlantic]

• Diet bandwagon alert: Chick-fil-A is pushing “keto-friendly” menu items (which is just stuff they already have minus the bun). [KALB]

• Barack Obama ate at Ayesha Curry’s San Francisco restaurant on President’s Day. Chrissy Teigen was there too, because of course. [People]
