After spending a big chunk of 2018 filming Season 3 of Queer Eye in the Midwest, the members of the Fab Five are now headed to Japan to shoot a four-episode installment of Netflix’s hit lifestyle makeover show.
Dubbed Queer Eye: We’re In Japan!, this short series will feature food expert Antoni Porowski, fashion guru Tan France, grooming maestro Jonathan Van Ness, interior designer Bobby Berk, and cultural jack-of-all-trades Karamo Brown meeting with four Tokyo residents who applied for makeovers. Per Deadline, the guys will also be working with “local tastemakers” on the lifestyle transformations, and they will also meet with one special Queer Eye mega-fan. It sounds like there is, perhaps, a strong possibility that we may see a cameo from newly-minted Netflix star and Tokyo resident Marie Kondo, of Tidying Up fame.
The project sounds a bit like when the Queer Eye crew filmed a bonus episode in Yas, Australia timed with the launch of Season 2. Based on their Instagram photos and stories, it looks like the various members of the Fab Five all arrived in in Tokyo over the last two days:
“In just a year since we launched season one, Queer Eye has become a global phenomenon once again and the Fab Five are truly the ambassadors of self-care and compassion that the world needs now more than ever,” series creator David Collins tells Deadline. “Filming in Japan is a wonderful opportunity for us to work with four deserving heroes that will help showcase the incredible traditions and customs of their country.”
No word yet on when the third season of Queer Eye or this bonus bundle of Japan-themed episodes will be available on Netflix. But for now, Fab Five super-fans can tide themselves over with the recent episode of Lip Sync Battle featuring the crew. Here’s a preview:
