The trailer just dropped for NBA legend and big tipper Shaquille O’Neal’s brand-new chicken restaurant-themed reality TV show Big Chicken Shaq. The eight-episode reality show, which chronicles the development and opening of his forthcoming Las Vegas restaurant Big Chicken, is set to premiere on Facebook Watch on Saturday, October 6.
If the teaser is any indication, it will be just about as goofy as one might expect from the former basketball star. The trailer kicks off with a silly jingle and leaps into clips from the series, including the 7-foot-1 Shaq boxing, tasting chicken, and helping demolish the previous restaurant that Big Chicken is moving into.
Big Chicken will be located near the Hard Rock Hotel in a 2,660-square-foot building, according to Eater Vegas. It’s expected to seat 102 people when it opens sometime this fall. The series will be unique in that viewers are encouraged to participate in the restaurant development by voting on menu items and final ingredients for dishes. The big guy himself will also be doing “impromptu live broadcasts and a weekly cooking segment” in between episodes, according to a release.
Viewers can also enter a contest for a chance to attend the grand opening of the restaurant in Vegas by uploading a video explaining why the deserve to be at the event to the Big Chicken Shaq Facebook group. Shaq will select the winners.
This isn’t Shaq’s first foray into the restaurant business, but it appears the former athlete is branching out more into the hospitality business. A restaurant named Shaquille’s was recently proposed for an address near the Staples Center, Eater LA reports.
