- This week on Parts Unknown, globetrotting TV host/author Anthony Bourdain heads to Berlin, which he finds is an “anomaly among German metropolises.” The city has a dark, fractured (literally) past, but its modern inhabitants are accepting and creative. Bourdain travels around with psychedelic rocker Anton Newcombe, frontman of Brian Jonestown Massacre, and electronic musician Ellen Allien. During the trip, Tony B. noshes on hearty fare such as sausage made from chicken, pigs feet, and sage. The episode airs this Sunday, June 10, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Get an early look via the clips below.
- New York City-based clubstaurant empire Tao is officially expanding to Chicago. The chain, which regularly draws famous faces to its locations around the world, is scheduled to open its new outpost in September, and the announcement confirms long-running rumors of Tao’s move into the Windy City.
- Joël Robuchon is closing his eponymous Singapore restaurant at the end of the month. This is currently Singapore’s only restaurant with three Michelin stars.
- Former Starbucks chief executive officer Howard Schultz may position himself as the anti-Trump in a potential 2020 run for the White House — because he’s socially progressive and all. But his fiscal views, which are mostly what one would expect from a corporate billionaire, might not be in line with the modern Democratic Party.
- McDonald’s Japan is blessing the public with a McFlurry inspired by Gudetama, the adorable lazy egg that happens to be an animated pop-culture icon in the country. The dessert consists of a soft-serve base topped with mystery-flavored ingredients and sauces.
- And in other Japanese food news, Coke is releasing a special clear soda in Japan that tastes like the fizzy brown original, but with a splash of lemon. No word yet on whether this Crystal Pepsi-esque soda will ever land in America.
- Food writer (and Great British Bake-Off runner-up) Ruby Tandoh is no longer working for the Guardian:

I know that if our feet touch before we go to sleep at night, we’re not going to bed upset or angry.”
