Netflix’s ‘Queer Eye’-‘Nailed It’ Crossover Episode Is a Beautiful, Fondant-Covered Mess

Antoni judges his fellow Fab 5’s baking skills in a brutal cake recreation contest with Nicole Byer and Jacques Torres

The streaming gods are smiling upon us, and Netflix has released a Queer Eye-Nailed It! crossover episode. Yes, the members of the Fab Five gets to work in the Nailed It! kitchen and compete to see who can best recreate cupcake versions of their fellow makeover artists. Host Nicole Byer provides the commentary and trash talk, and pastry chef Jacques Torres is there to take part in the judging. The seven-minute video is available on Netflix’s YouTube channel.

Nailed It!, which celebrates baking fails and returns to Netflix with a second season today, typically recruits a guest judge for each episode. Queer Eye food expert Antoni Porowski receives the honor for this project, which means he does not participate in the baking. (Conspiracy theorists who believe Porowski can’t actually cook, take note.) Fashion expert Tan France, on the other hand, sounds like he knows what he’s talking about as he coaches culture expert Karamo Brown through the competition.

The biggest highlight is grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness’ sassy rapport with Byer. In the end, only one Queer Eye star comes close to successfully completing the challenge. Watch the video above to find out who wins.
