The Sacramento Kings’ solar-powered arena, Golden 1 Center, is the most environmentally-friendly stadium in the league. Consider that just one of the many impressive accolades the indoor arena in downtown Sacramento boasts. Golden 1 works around the ethos that it’s a local operation, and that the Sacramento community comes first.
Around 90 percent of the food served in the arena comes from within a 150 mile radius. Additionally, all unsold food goes to local food banks, and any “green waste” goes back to feeding local soil. Even the arena’s leftover fryer oil is recycled as diesel fuel by a local family business. Golden 1 also boasts some of the best food of all the NBA arenas. There’s handmade wood fired pizzas, sushi, three different kinds of handmade tortillas, and a large array of vegan options.
