LA Lakers rookie Kyle Kuzma finds himself far from his Michigan hometown when it’s basketball season and the fans filling the Staples Center are chanting his name. Luckily the Flint, Michigan native has been finding fuel and solace at Berri’s Cafe in Beverly Hills — an unassuming restaurant in a posh neighborhood serving a lobster pizza that Kuzma is unabashedly in love with.
The 27 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, who was once a lover of Chicago’s deep dish, is bringing along Eater LA editor Farley Elliot on his latest visit to Berri’s. “This is my favorite place to eat,” Kuzma tells Elliot, who found himself in search of comforting foods when he arrived in his new home. “I don’t want to be one of those guys who makes it somewhere and forgets where they come from,” says Kuzma. “Flint is very important to me.”
