Although not the most innovative invention, a sun oven can be extremely complicated to build, require a lot of steps, and tends to be bulky — alternatively it just costs hundreds of dollars. This You Can Do This version is a cheap and quick buildout using household items that will yield cooked hot dogs on the beach; and you can toss the whole contraption in the recycling bin on your way out.
Using cardboard and tinfoil, you can manipulate the sun rays enough to heat hot dogs or other pre-cooked items. I should stress that this will not cook burgers or chicken for you because the heat is purely warming, rather than an aggressive sear. But this DIY sun oven is a great way to enjoy hot dogs your next time on the sand.
