- Atlanta-based chicken sandwich chain Chick-fil-A is testing out some new menu items this summer. Headlining the list of experimental items are “Chick-n-Sliders,” described as a “signature chicken filet served on a warm roll and topped with honey butter spread.” The size falls in between CFA’s traditional sandwich and its breakfast-time Chick-n-Minis, and the chain is hoping the sliders, currently available at locations in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, will lure customers in at “snack time.”
- American Craft Brewery, a subsidiary of the Boston Beer Company, maker of the Sam Adams line of brews, is in some hot water for peddling illicit suds in New York state. The company has agreed to pay a $975,000 fine for bootlegging 1.4 million cases in New York. The state’s liquor authority determined those cases lacked proper registration labels.
- Donald Trump’s pardon spree may include Martha Stewart, the domestic goddess who was convicted on insider trading charges in 2003. Trump recently pardoned Islamaphobic conspiracy theorist Dinesh D’Souza, and former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich could be in line for a pardon, too. What do all of these people have in common? They were all put away by individuals who are now investigating whether the president colluded with Russia and obstructed justice.
- In other White House news, Trump’s new tariffs on imported aluminum could raise the price of canned beer. Sorry, Joe Six Pack.
- Ex-Talking Heads frontman David Byrne was recently spotted singing karaoke at a Portland, Oregon, tiki bar. No, Byrne did not sing one of his own songs, but his rendition of Prince’s “When Doves Cry” was pretty good.
- This Father’s Day, get Dad an A1 steak sauce-scented candle. Or don’t, because A1 smells terrible.
- In Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw’s favorite New York City sweet spot was Magnolia Bakery. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the show’s premiere — yes, we are all old — Magnolia is giving away free cupcakes.
- Philanthropic gazillionaire Warren Buffett is auctioning off a lunch to support Glide, an anti-poverty organization in San Francisco. So far, the bidding has surpassed $3.2 million. Buffett must be quite the dining companion.
- Celebrity chef and lifestyle brand Rachael Ray is selling her television wardrobe for charity on web-based social marketplace Poshmark. Proceeds will benefit Yum-o, Ray’s nonprofit that “empowers kids and their families to develop healthy relationships with food and cooking.”
- Finally, do not try to beat a dog in a noodle-eating contest. You will not win.
