Molly Yeh, a blogger known for creating charming cakes and cheesy casseroles out of her home on a farm in the midwest, just landed her own Food Network show, Girl Meets Farm.
Fans know that hers is a dream-come-true blogger story: Juilliard-schooled musician starts a food blog on the side, works hard to develop creative recipes, wins awards for photography and writing, secures lucrative sponsorships with brands like Cabot, garners legions of fans, secures book deal, and, now, signs on with the biggest cable network in food for her own series.
Girl Meets Farm will showcase Yeh’s life on a farm in Minnesota, which she lives on with her husband, a sugar beet farmer. “Recipes [are] inspired by her Jewish and Chinese heritage and a taste of the Midwest,” according to a release, which also says that she makes a buffet for a baby shower in the first episode. The dishes sound a lot like what Yeh is known for — food that’s fun to eat followed by plenty of (usually colorful) dessert — including, fish tacos with crunchy cabbage slaw and cilantro dressing, pigs in a blanket with harissa ketchup, and baked doughnuts with rhubarb, blood orange, and blueberry glaze. In each of the seven episodes, Yeh serves friends and and family and makes food for celebrations. Girl Meets Farm sounds a little bit like Pioneer Woman meets the Barefoot Contessa — albeit for a younger demographic.
Yeh made the announcement official on Instagram earlier today, saying in a video message that she was “really excited... I have been working on a TV show, it takes place in my kitchen, it’s a cooking show... I’m going to be cooking a lot of fun things like challah and hot dish and potstickers and Funfetti cake... and basically all of my favorite foods!”
Girl Meets Farm premieres on Sunday, June 24 on Food Network at 11 a.m. ET/PT.
