Writer/comedian Ali Wong is slated to portray a fictional San Francisco celebrity chef in a forthcoming, as-yet-untitled comedy that’s headed to Netflix. The plot will involve Wong’s character, Sasha, rekindling an old flame with a struggling musician named Marcus, played by actor Randall Park.

Wong and Park work together on the ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat, where she is a writer and he plays the show’s father figure, Louis Huang. The new movie will be directed by Fresh Off the Boat showrunner Nahnatchka Khan, and Wong and Park are working on the script with Michael Golamco.

No word yet on when this film will make its debut. But if you want a crash course Wong’s comedic stylings, check out her hilarious stand-up special Baby Cobra, or the dumpling episode of Ugly Delicious, where she crushes some xiao long bao with David Chang.

Kitchen rom-coms don’t have a particularly great track record, but hopefully this one will break the curse. Stay tuned for more details on the Wong/Park/Khan Netflix movie as they become available.
