Watch the Trailer for Samin Nosrat’s Netflix Series ‘Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat’

Take a trip around the world in search of flavor

In the new Netflix docuseries Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat, author and all-around-cooking expert Samin Nosrat will travel the world to better understand the four elements that “can make or break a dish.” The show is a companion piece to the James Beard Award-winning book of the same name. In each episode, Nosrat will explore one of the titular elements by meeting with chefs and artisans around the globe who have mastered these culinary building blocks, and she will also demonstrate how to apply related techniques in the kitchen.

“I’ve spent my entire life in pursuit of flavor,” Nosrat says in the new trailer for the series. “I’ve traveled the world to explore the things that define good cooking. No matter where I go, the same elements make food delicious.” In Season 1 of the series, Samin will travel to Japan, Italy, and Mexico, and she will pay a visit to her old workplace, Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California.

Nosrat previously worked on Michael Pollan’s Netflix series Cooked, where she first met director Caroline Suh. The two kept in touch and eventually hatched a plan to turn Nosrat’s book into a series with the author as the star. “She has this infectious energy and joy, and everyone on the crew pretty much fell in love with her,” Suh recently told Eater.

All four episodes of Salt, Fat, Acid Heat, will land on Netflix next Thursday, October 11.
