Last week, the owners of Cake Life Bake Shop in Philadelphia received an order from a New York client who wanted a multi-tiered black-and-gold geode-themed birthday cake, as well as some cookies, to be delivered to the Made in America Music Festival at Ben Franklin Parkway. As it turns out, this mysterious cake and cookie recipient was none other than Queen Bey herself, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and the treats would be part of the birthday celebration that Jay-Z had planned for his wife during the music fest.
The impressive geologically-inspired cakes from this bakery start at around $3,500. Here’s a photo of Cake Life Bake Shop’s pastry artists with the majestic dessert.
When they first placed the order, Beyoncé’s culinary liaisons were being vague about the recipient of this dessert, but the Cake Life team did some digging and eventually made the connection. “Everyone here knows that I love Beyoncé... pretty much the whole week we just blasted Beyoncé,” says co-owner Lily Fisher. The bakery proprietor also tells Page Six: “Obviously we were looking at [inspiration] and things like that, but making the cake is a two-day process.” Fischer and her crew would love the chance to bake for the pop megastar next time she’s back in Philly.
