NSFW Bread Loaf Steals the Show on ‘Great British Bake Off’

Plus, Action Bronson on ‘Late Night’ and more intel

  • On a recent episode of UK baking hit The Great British Bake Off, a contestant made a loaf of bread that was supposed to look like a snail and instead looked like a flacid penis. The show’s official twitter account (and much of British twitter) was all about it:
  • An exec at Michelin says their acquisition spree may continue. The famous restaurant guide and tire maker recently bought the restaurant booking site Bookable and a stake in both the Robert Parker Wine guide and Le Fooding.
  • Fast-food chain Caliburger will install burger flipping robots in 50 of its locations. The chain’s CEO recently said of improvements in automation and robotics: “The kitchen can be entirely automated. We really think of ourselves as a technology company that happens to sell cheeseburgers.”
  • Most of the Waffle Houses are back open in Florida following Hurricane Irma:
  • Kendall and Kylie Jenner just introduced a new (already controversial) purse in the shape of a Chinese takeout box. It’s called the “Lee Leather Clutch.”
  • This Action Bronson appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers is weirdly funny:
  • Watch what happens when, in an incredible feat of stunt journalism, a writer consumes 40 pumpkin spice products over a week: “I’m writing this story after a breakfast of pumpkin spice toast, pumpkin spice yogurt with pumpkin granola, and an iced pumpkin spice chai, sitting next to a flickering pumpkin spice candle, because I am seeking pumpkin spice enlightenment.” It’s more about the phenomenon than the actual consumption of these products, but worth a read.
  • Meanwhile, the Cheesecake Factory has a new pumpkin pie AND pecan pie combo cheesecake.
