Whataburger is one of the regional fast food chains that inspires ride-or-die devotion among its fans. Cops and birds are especially fond of this Texas-based chain, which is way more popular than other burger outfits like In-N-Out in the Lonestar State. Understanding that the brand has a cult-like following, the company’s head honchos decided to build a social media contest around a pair of one of a kind orange and white-striped Air Jordan 1s created by San Antonio-based artist Jake Danklef. From now through August 7, fans can vie for a chance to win these Whataburger kicks by sharing their favorite customized meals on social media with the hashtag #WhataThoseContest.

The submissions will be judged by the Whataburger team and then fans will vote on the top 10 entries on Facebook next month. One lucky Whataburger fan will get these shoes, valued at $2,000, while the second and third place winners will get sauce packet and burger wrapper-themed sneakers, respectively.
With the release of these Whataburger Air Jordan 1s, and the debuts of the pizza-themed Adidas and Momofuku-inspired Nikes, 2017 is shaping up to be the Year of the Hyper-Exclusive Oddball Food-Themed Sneaker.
