The Roca Brothers Are Opening a Chocolate Factory

It’s set to open next year

Facebook

The brothers behind two-time World’s 50 Best Restaurants winner El Celler de Can Roca have plans to open a chocolate factory, Joan Roca announced at the World’s 50 Best talks earlier this month.

The chef of the Girona, Spain restaurant told the crowd that brother Jordi Roca was the driving force behind the venture. The El Celler pastry chef, known for dreaming up whimsically avant-garde desserts at the restaurant, has been been making chocolates with cacao from Piura, Peru in the El Celler kitchen for some time and also operates Girona gelato shop, Rocambolesc.

The Roca brothers’ bean-to-bar chocolate factory is still in the early design stage, according to restaurant blog Fine Dining Lovers, but Roca says the factory will be located in Girona and expects it to open sometime next year.
