No Additional Singapore Street Food Hawkers Got Michelin Stars This Year

And the only three-star restaurant is a fancy French place

Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

The merry tire-makers at Michelin just unveiled their second-ever Singapore guide.

Joël Robuchon remains the only restaurant with three stars. This isn’t necessarily surprising (Robuchon is pretty much a Michelin magnet), but considering Singapore’s rich culinary landscape, it seems disappointing nonetheless that only a fancy French place cracked the uppermost echelons.

There are 12 new one-star restaurants and one new two-star. No new “street food” category restaurants were added, even though Singapore is famous for its hawker fare; Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle and Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle each kept a single star. This doesn’t necessarily bode well for how street food will fare in Michelin’s debut Thailand guide, expected later this year.
