Eleven Madison Park, the restaurant that topped the World’s 50 Best list just two months ago, served its final tasting menu before closing for renovations this weekend. And last night, hospitalitarian Will Guidara, chef Daniel Humm, the EMP crew, and a bevy of industry insiders bid adieu to the restaurant in its current incarnation.
So how do you say goodbye to a restaurant that isn’t really closing, anyway? Eater NY reports the scene on the Sunday night was pretty ~lit~ for a group of hardcore hospitality nerds. The once-beige walls had been adorned with graffiti, Questlove DJed, and Humm sprayed the rowdy crowd with champagne. (A favorite EMP party move.) For its last night as its current self, the EMP kitchen offered up truffled chicken burgers, biscuits, chicken fingers, and a whole-roasted pig.
As EMP undergoes a summer-long redesign, Guidara and Humm are decamping to the Hamptons for EMP Summer House, a seafood-centric pop-up with indoor and outdoor seating and lawn games. When they return to their Manhattan digs in the fall, they’ll be coming back to a brand new kitchen and a dining room with more space at the bar for regulars.
Take a look at a few of the highlights from the non-closing-night-closing-night revelry below:
