Anthony Bourdain’s award-winning, compulsively-watchable CNN show Parts Unknown will makes its Season 9 debut on Sunday, April 30. This time around, the Kitchen Confidential author will eat and drink his way through eight destinations, including San Sebastian, Laos, Portugal, Trinidad, Oman, and Queens, NY. Bourdain will launch the season with a tour of Los Angeles’s Latino communities, featuring special appearances by Broken Spanish chef Ray Garcia, and actor/restaurateur Danny Trejo (AKA Machete). And in one very special episode of season 9, Bourdain will travel all the way to Antarctica to scope out the southern hemisphere’s largest active volcano and an Adele penguin colony.
New for season 9, Tony B will be offering notes on his travels on the recently-launched Explore Parts Unknown site. This collaboration between CNN and Roads & Kingdoms will also feature long-form stories, videos, and travel tips about the Parts Unknown destinations, updated regularly throughout the season. And as a warm-up to Season 9, CNN will air a “Prime Cuts” special on April 23, which will feature Bourdain reflecting on his previous journeys and sharing notes on the destinations he’s tackling this time around.
