Aaron Franklin, America’s brand-name pitmaster and owner of Austin’s Franklin Barbecue, will team up with vets of the food and music festival circuit to launch the Hot Luck Festival in Austin, running from May 18 to May 21. Today the organizers announced the first round of events, which include chefs Roy Choi, Callie Speer, Andy Ricker, Alex Stupak, and dozens more.
It’s both a food and a music festival, with all of the events available a la carte and priced from $20 (for some TBD music events) to $550 for VIP tickets. Mike Thelin of Feast Portland and James Moody, who founded Fun Fun Fun Fest, are partners.
The major food events announced today include a Friday night dinner event and a Saturday night dinner centered on fire (called “Al Fuego”). There will also be a tiki party, a brunch series pairing Texas chefs with out-of-towners, and plenty of shows (to be announced in April).
Tickets are now available. Eater is a media sponsor.
