Despite the fact that DJ Khaled likes to tell his Snapchat followers that “they don’t want you to have” breakfast and lunch, the hit-making producer/rapper appears to eat pretty well. Khaled’s personal chef De'Bronya Hodges — better known as Chef Dee — and her food often make appearances in his snaps. Now, she’s opening her own restaurant, according to Bravo.
Anyone who wants to eat like Khaled needs to book a trip to Miami. Hodges, who currently operates a catering company, is expanding with a brick-and-mortar spot in the city’s Little River neighborhood. Dubbed Empty Plates, the restaurant will showcase Hodges’s take on what she calls “soul food fusion.”
“You might get some egg rolls one day, you might get fried chicken and collard greens the next day,” the chef recently told BET. “It could be anything from the healthiest stuff to the most comforting food.”
Hodges says she met Khaled through a “chef mentor,” and what started as a three-week trial run turned into a two-year relationship. The DJ has never been shy about praising his chef’s food.
