Mario Batali Will Cook Homer Simpson on the New ‘Treehouse of Horror’

This is not the chef’s first time in Springfield

Fox

The 28th annual “Treehouse of Horror” episode of The Simpsons will involve a cannibal-themed segment called “Mmm... Homer” that will feature a cameo from America’s favorite ravioli-slinger, Mario Batali. Fox has released a few stills of The Chew’s co-host appearance on this Sunday’s Halloween episode — in one shot, Molto Mario is seen offering advice to Homer after he’s sawed off the bottom of his torso, and in another still, Mario is shown cooking his disembodied head in a wok.

Fox

This is actually not the chef’s first time visiting Springfield: The former Crocs fanatic guest-starred on the 2011 Simpsons episode “The Food Wife” — wherein Marge becomes a food blogger — along with Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsay. Previous seasons of The Simpsons have also included cameos by food world luminaries Martha Stewart, Tom Colicchio, Alton Brown, and Wolfgang Puck. And Batali has also made a few other random quest appearances in fictional worlds before, including a turn as a rabbit-chef in The Fantastic Mr. Fox, and a cameo as a restaurateur in the horror film Bitter Feast.

The Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror XXVIII” airs this Sunday, October 22 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
