On September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico as a Category 4 storm with 155 mph winds. Following the devastating, deadly hurricane — which left millions without power, took down trees, and flooded streets — the restaurant and food community is struggling to pick up the pieces.
Chefs have stepped up to provide food and other relief to people affected, including on-the-ground efforts from chef José Andrés who, with the support of World Central Kitchen, has fed hundreds of thousands of Puerto Rican residents since he arrived in the days immediately after the hurricane hit.
