All Avocado Everything Restaurant to Open in Amsterdam

Three intrepid restaurateurs in the ultra-hip De Pijp neighborhood of Amsterdam are putting the finishing touches on a restaurant where avocados will be prominently featured in every damn dish on the menu. Dubbed the Avocado Show, this new cafe from super fruit–loving friends Julien Zaal, Jaimie van Heije, and Ron Simpson will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, plus late night snacks to appeal to clubgoers. Last month, Simpson told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad: “The possibilities are endless... Our only rule is that the dishes need to contain the green super fruit in one way or another.” Co-owner Jamie van Heije also operates an eponymous restaurant in nearby Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, which serves things other than avocado-based dishes.

The restaurant’s Instagram page looks like a Buzzfeed listicle of Awesome Ways to Get More Avocado in Your Life, with photos of tacos, cakes, toasts, and even hot dogs with squishy green buns. Sadly, it appears that these images are not actual dishes from the shop, but rather shots from Amsterdam-based photographer/stylist Colette Dike — AKA Food Decco — who recently published a book called, simply, Avocado. But so far, the restaurateurs behind the Avocado Show have hinted at serving things like avocado burgers, avocado ice cream, chocolate-avocado smoothies, and breaded & baked avocado nuggets with dip.

The owners are staffing up with an expected opening date slated for next month. Currently, the Avocado Show’s Instagram account has over nine thousand followers. Stay tuned for more details on the opening of Amsterdam’s premiere avocado-focused cafe as they become available.
