Finally, something worth watching on Food Network besides Chopped: A new cooking competition called Star Plates will feature a bevy of famous people cooking on the line with equally famous chefs.
Per a press release, each episode will feature a celebrity — such Mindy Kaling, Colin Hanks, Erin Andrews, or Alyson Hannigan — being "thrown into the fire, working side-by-side with the professional restaurant chef" to "help service a dining room full of hungry, paying customers." Said chefs will include Geoffrey Zakarian, Marcus Samuelsson, Susan Feniger, Michael Voltaggio, and Vinny Dotolo.
Kaling's episode will take place at Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster in Harlem, where she'll learn to make the restaurant's signature fried chicken.
Will the chefs be able to coax five-star dishes out of their celebrity proteges? Will the Hollywood stars learn the true meaning of swamp ass? Find out when the show premieres at 11 p.m. EST/PST on Tuesday, September 27.
