World's Best Cop Pulls Driver Over, Issues Ice Cream Instead of Ticket

A nice surprise on a hot day

That feeling when you're pulled over by flashing lights and waiting for the police officer to arrive at your window: It isn't a good one. A few moments of dread leave a driver wondering if they'll be facing points on their license, an increased insurance premium, and a hefty fine. Apparently in Halifax, Va., being pulled over for Vehicle Code 1739 isn't so bad.

If these on-duty officers are to be believed, that's the code for "driving on a hot day without an ice cream cone," and the punishment is administration of said cone. In the above video, Halifax Police Department officers pull over an unsuspecting driver, and the resulting interaction features much more laughter than your typical officer-driver meeting. Why did the officers decide to drive around town handing out ice cream? Chief Kevin Lands and Officer Brian Warner say they "wanted to try and put some smiles on people's faces," according to AnonTV.
