Taco Bell Shoves Cheetos Inside Burritos

In the fast food universe, Cheetos are the new Doritos

Taco Bell's quest to shove every possible kind of salty snack inside tortillas continues. Its latest effort: Cheetos burritos.

Said burritos will be fleshed out with seasoned beef, cheese sauce, and rice; the new menu item will be tested at select stores in August, according to FoodBeast. (Considering Cheetos' penchant for persistently staining fingertips nuclear orange, perhaps tucked safely inside a tortilla is actually the best way to consume them.)

It's not the most Instagram-friendly menu item, but really, what at Taco Bell is?

While it seems unlikely that Cheetos burritos will be as big a hit as the chain's Doritos Locos tacos that launched in 2012, you certainly can't blame Taco Bell for trying to keep up in the ongoing novelty food arms race: Last month Burger King launched Mac 'n Cheetos, a peculiar mozzarella stick/mac and cheese hybrid that's been received with equal parts delight and disdain.

Yes, Cheetos are decidedly having a moment in the fast food world, and one can't help but speculate what could be next for the puffy orange snack. Cheetos mac and cheese stuffed crust pizza? A Cheetos burger with a bright orange bun? Cheetos-stuffed Reese's peanut butter cups? Rainbow Cheetos? Cheetos-flavored Oreos? Cheetos-flavored Doritos? Doritos-flavored Cheetos? The world is waiting, Frito-Lay.
