Last night on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the host went head-to-head with some terrifying ocean lifeforms along with Carlo Mirarchi — the head chef from Brooklyn's hipster pizza institute, Roberta's — and newly minted Ghostbuster Leslie Jones.
Seriously, have you ever seen a live king crab? It's awfully reminiscent of the Predator, and definitely not something you'd want to meet in a dark alley. Thankfully, Jones had a mighty strong cocktail to lean on (green juice and gin, natch), which she unconvincingly pronounced "smoooooth."
While largely unimpressed by tasting the dish's individual elements — kombu, Crenshaw melon broth, and sea urchin gonads ("You want me to eat a uterus?"), even Jones had to admit the finished plate looked pretty delicious. She also offers Mirarchi some helpful tips on cooking scallops — gleaned from watching shouty chef Gordon Ramsay, of course. (Also, how the hell does Mirarchi cook with that gigantic chef hat obscuring his eyes?)
