Watch: This Massive, Gorgeous Fried Chicken Sandwich Is Garnished With Cheese Fries

New, 1 comment

It's called The Smorgasbird

This month, Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken — the restaurant from Eric and Bruce Bromberg of NYC's Blue Ribbon empire — is offering a menu item so enormous it takes three jumbo toothpicks to hold it together. The Smorgasbird is a triple-decker fried chicken sandwich laden with toppings and selling for $15.

A breakdown of the components from the bottom bun up: Blue Ribbon Special Sauce, lettuce, pickles, tomato, two fried chicken breasts, grilled pineapple, "Game Day Fries" (french fries, barbecue pulled chicken, cheddar, and sour cream), smoked bacon, and pickled peppers. It is not for the faint of heart, though 20 percent of the proceeds do go to the MS Society, so you can feel good about making yourself feel… very full. Watch the video above for an inside look at the assembly of this formidable sandwich.

For another towering creation between two slices of bread — this time at Toronto’s Holy Chuck — check out the video below:
