In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Sunday, Seth Rogen called his new film, Sausage Party, the "craziest thing [he's] ever done." In case you haven't seen the completely insane trailer, Sausage Party looks to be a more grown-up version of Toy Story, albeit one revolving around food, rather than toys. And with an "R" rating.
The CG film tells the story of "one sausage leading a group of supermarket products on a quest to discover the truth about their existence and what really happens when they become chosen to leave the grocery store." In his interview with Kimmel, Rogen joked that the film's goal is to "scare children off food."
"We love animated movies," said Rogen, "and we thought one day, like, what if our food had feelings? Then we thought, it'd be super messed up, 'cause we eat our food, and it would be a horrible existence for them.'"
As Rogen notes, the film will be the first R-rated, Pixar-style movie to hit theaters. The film, which features the voices of Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, and James Franco, among others, is slated to hit theaters August 12.
