Watch Paul Rudd Try to Convince Someone to Eat a Slim Jim

He could be a little more persuasive

Online streaming service/binge watching enabler Netflix is gearing up for the release of its latest original film The Fundamentals of Caring. The movie stars lovable nerd Paul Rudd as Ben, a novelist-turned-caregiver to an 18-year-old Trevor who is living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Because of his illness, Trevor chooses to stay close to home, but enjoys making maps of unusual landmarks across the U.S. The pair bond and eventually Ben decides to take Trevor on a surprise road trip to visit some of the sites that the boy has dreamed of, but never seen first-hand.

Based on this recently released clip, Trevor is clearly a little resistant to moving beyond his comfort zone and this includes trying a Slim Jim. According to Ben, Slim Jims are "what road trips are all about." Ben's methods for getting his patient to take a bite of the meat stick may be a bit flawed. The Fundamentals of Caring starts streaming June 24. Watch a preview above.
