Calling all Dave Matthews Band diehards: Put on your fanciest pair of khaki cargo shorts, because according to Men's Journal the band has inspired a new beer. Created by a craft brewer in the band's hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia called Starr Hill Brewery, it's called Warehouse Pils (Warehouse being the name of the band's official fan club).
Created to commemorate the band's 25th anniversary, the beer is a dry-hopped German Pilsner and according to the brewery, "It’s perfect for those warm spring and summer days, as well as enjoying with your favorite DMB song!" (Or the only DMB song you know, which is probably "Crash.") All net proceeds from the beer go to support a local charity founded by the band.
Tragically for fans located in the other 49 states, the beer will only be available on draft in Virginia (including at all the band's shows within state lines). However, DMB aficionados who want to enjoy some on-theme booze while listening to their favorite jam band can always sip on a glass of pinot noir or chardonnay from Matthews' California vineyard Dreaming Tree instead.
Given the number of musicians that already have their own beers, it's actually kind of surprising it took this long for a DMB beer to happen. Queen, 311, and even 90s chart topper-turned-recurring-joke Hootie and the Blowfish have all launched their own respective brews, while Metallica and Budweiser released a limited-edition beer in Canada and AC/DC recently teamed up with grocery chain Aldi to launch a beer in their home country of Australia.
