Ted Allen's Chopped, the Top Chef-style reality show he hosts on the Food Network, has won some awards, but has it been spoofed? It has now: Last night on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, comedians Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone take part in Smooshed, which is what host Stephen Colbert calls Chopped if you "take everything that happens in Chopped and just smoosh it down..."
Colbert's team goes all out in terms of set design and pantry essentials: "That stuff in the middle, which is whatever we could find in the break room fridge." The best part? "The winner will receive a donation to the charity of his or her choice courtesy of Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream Fund." The secret ingredients are mini marshmallows, saltines, and bacon bits. The two contestants get exactly one minute to create their dishes, which means there's a lot of frantic tossing and hand mixing and really odd flavor combinations (ham, marshmallows, saltines, and mayonnaise?). Watch to see Colbert gamely taste each dish, and decide which contestant makes the cut and which comedian gets "smooshed."
