Some exciting news: At the end of March, Matt Buchanan, co-editor of the Awl and former staffer of The New Yorker, BuzzFeed, and Gizmodo, will join Eater as the new features editor, overseeing our slate of longform food writing. Helen Rosner, who moved to the position of executive editor earlier this year, launched Eater's features department a year and a half ago (and won a few awards for it), and Buchanan (a talented writer and cultural commentator but an even more impressive editor) will continue where she left off.
Expect all kinds of compelling, thought-provoking, enraging, and downright silly and ridiculous writing in the weeks and months to come. Maybe we'll also let him write about coffee.
Our wildly talented associate features editor Meghan McCarron will transition to the role of senior features editor, overseeing production of major packages and guides, while still contributing to general features lineup.
