The generous comedian strikes again

Scoring tickets to the Broadway show Hamilton apparently puts people in the giving mood. Eater NY reports that admitted celebrity cake thief Amy Schumer was in the city over the weekend to catch the play and dropped a $1,000 mega-tip for the lobby bartenders on a $77 bill.

According to Gothamist, Schumer's party placed a drink order before the performance, and then revisited the bar at intermission for another round. A member of Schumer's crew handed the tab to the bartender and said, "Amy wants to make sure you get this." Bartender Madeline DeJohn says she and her coworkers were left speechless. "We've served a lot of celebrities at Hamilton and we've received some nice tips but never before had I seen a tip that even came close to this one."

And then @amyschumer comes into your work and does something amazing #hamilton #amyschumer

DeJohn says this wasn't the first time Schumer has left a generous tip for the bartenders. "She came to the bar a few months ago and put $80 in our tip jar," she recalls. "I went up to her and thanked her and she basically was like, 'Of course, I've been there, I get it, you guys are great.' I've never encountered this kind of generosity before."

Schumer's been known to drop big tips before. Last June, the comedian visited Peter's Clam Bar in Long Island and left her server a $500 tip on a $49 tab. Now if someone would just name a sandwich after her.
